RMGA Fights for Respectful Goat Encounters
In a recent partnership between RMGA, the US Forest Service and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, a new video and signage have been created as a public education effort to protect mountain goats that have become highly habituated. Trailheads like those at Fairy Lake in the Bridger Mountains will now be posted with a reminder to hikers that goats are WILD animals and deserve our respect and distance.
Nothin good ever comes from wild animals habituating. Human / goat conflict can be as petty as a goat licking up your salty urine to encounters as serious as pets or individuals being gored due to a lack of distancing. These situations are avoidable with a few simple steps that every outdoor enthusiast should follow while in goat country.
