Henry's Mountains Goat Count (Completed)

Orientation: Friday, July 19th – at Stone Glacier, Bozeman, MT. 

Target count day is Saturday, July 20. Counting may occur Sunday morning for those volunteers staying in the backcountry. There are several target areas, and volunteers will be delegated to areas based on both backcountry experience and prefence.

Please note that additional bear awareness training will be included for volunteers this year. There has been an increase of bear-human interactions, including a fatality, in the last year, so volunteers will need to exercise caution, including carrying bear spray. Volunteers will be organized in groups of three where possible, and we strongly discourage bringing children on this count. Julie will consult with local bear biologists as we get closer to count days. If the bear concerns are too high, we will move the count to Bridger’s mountain range.
